🗣️ Speaking
Read Aloud (RA) — 10 Predicted Questions
Read Aloud is one of the highest-scoring tasks in PTE. It tests both speaking fluency and reading comprehension. Here are the top predicted passages for June 2026:
Trade Unions – Origins of trade unions in Europe during the industrial revolution, and how machinery reduced the bargaining power of skilled workers.
Unions – How unions shift power away from employers, including both benefits and potential downsides like equal pay regardless of performance.
Furniture – Three ways people view furniture: purely functional, aesthetic-functional, or as a form of art.
CD Quality Sound – A meta-analysis exploring whether listeners can perceive better-than-CD quality audio, with results showing a statistically significant but modest difference.
Physical Characteristics – How scientists use T-cells to determine age, as an alternative to using teeth, bones, or blood.
Material and Non-material – How material culture (tools, technology) and non-material culture (beliefs, customs) influence each other, using genetics as an example.
Market Research – Why market research is essential before introducing any new service, regardless of prior experience.
Wildlife – Research finding that habitat quality — not human activity — is the best predictor of wildlife abundance.
Brain – How the brain's two hemispheres are divided by a groove, and how each hemisphere controls opposite sides of the body.
Trump – Trade tensions between the US and China, including threatened tariffs and currency manipulation declarations.
Tip: For RA, focus on smooth delivery without pausing at punctuation mid-phrase. Record yourself and listen back.
Repeat Sentence (RS) — 5 Predicted Questions
RS tests your listening memory and oral fluency simultaneously. Practice repeating these exactly:
I would like an egg and tomatoes on white sandwich bread with orange juice.
There is a fitness center next to the student union.
The brain is the central computer of our body.
Our capacity to serve the community is a vital part of our role.
Marks will be awarded for a bibliography in the correct format.
Tip: Don't try to write sentences down — train your audio memory by shadowing each sentence 3–5 times.
Respond to a Situation (RTS) — 10 Predicted Questions
RTS is a newer task format that tests your ability to respond naturally in real-life scenarios. Here are the June 2026 predictions:
Present for Schoolmate – Suggesting a farewell gift for a friend leaving for university.
Red Light Not Working – Calling the road maintenance team to report a faulty traffic light.
Class or Assignment – Managing a scheduling conflict between attending class and working on an assignment with another friend.
Exchange Program – Communicating with an exchange program officer while holding a part-time job offer in reserve.
Poster Creation – Volunteering with a friend to create a poster for a lecturer.
Forgotten Notebook – Letting classmates know you'll be late to a presentation because you forgot a notebook.
Uncomfortable Dormitory – Requesting a room change from dormitory management.
Presentation to Deliver – Explaining to a tutor why a group presentation is delayed due to a classmate's pending contribution.
Party Decline – Politely declining a birthday party invitation because of an essay deadline.
Car Parking – Asking a classmate about where to park at school after buying a car.
Tip: Aim for 2–3 sentences per response. Be polite, direct, and use connectors like however, therefore, and I'd suggest.
Describe Image (DI) — 6 Predicted Questions
DI requires you to describe visual data in 40 seconds. June 2026 predictions include a mix of bar charts and a process diagram:
Dinner Order – A process diagram showing how orders from two tables are processed via a computer and sent to the bar.
Air Route – A bar chart showing passenger preference (%) across five air routes: NY–London, NY–Paris, LA–Tokyo, SF–Sydney, and Boston–Berlin.
Gift Trends – A bar chart of gift purchases by holiday (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day) in units of 10,000.
Bank – A horizontal bar chart showing customer satisfaction percentages for major banks including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley.
Estate Sales – A bar chart comparing estate sales units across New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, and Sydney.
Pollutant Emission – A bar chart of pollutant emissions by industrial sector: Manufacturing, Transportation, Construction, Agriculture, and Utilities.
Tip: Use a simple structure: Introduction → Key trend → Comparison → Conclusion. Don't try to describe every bar — highlight the highest, lowest, and any notable difference.
✍️ Writing
Summarize Written Text (SWT) — 7 Predicted Questions
SWT requires a single sentence of 5–75 words summarising the passage. June 2026 predictions:

Written Language – Written language as an ancient information-storage technology is being replaced by voice, video, and movement-based technologies.
Paleolithic People – Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherers relied on nature for food — hunting large herbivores while supplementing their diet with berries, roots, and wild plants.

Geothermal Energy – East Africa, especially Kenya, is turning to geothermal energy as hydroelectric sources become unreliable amid rising energy demands.
Olympics – Major sporting events are joining a global climate network, with the 2014 Sochi Games pledging over $1.75 billion toward renewable energy and conservation.

Tip: A strong SWT sentence often follows this structure: Although/While [background], [main point] because/which [supporting detail].

How to Use These Predictions Effectively
These predictions are based on frequency analysis of recently reported PTE questions. They're a strong study guide, but not a guarantee of exact appearance. Here's how to get the most out of them:
Don't just read — practise actively. For RA and RS, record yourself. For essays, write full drafts under timed conditions.
Focus on your weak skill first. Use Score Smart's free diagnostic to identify where you're losing points.
Review answer words for FIB tasks. Understanding why a word fits (grammar, collocation, meaning) helps you generalise to unseen questions.
Use our AI mock tests to simulate real exam pressure before your test date.
