What PTE Academic coaching at Score Smart actually involves
PTE Academic is scored by an algorithm, not a person, and that single fact changes how you should prepare for it. Most students who plateau in the 50s and 60s do not have an English problem — they have a scoring problem. They speak fluently in conversation but pause and restart under a countdown timer, or they write a well-argued essay that ignores the word count the scorer is actually checking. Score Smart’s PTE coaching is built around closing that specific gap.
Who each program is for
The 2-Week Course ($444) suits students who already know the 20 task types and need a sharp final push before a booked test date. You should come in with a recent mock score and a clear target. Five days a week, Monday to Friday, morning (10am–12pm) or evening (8pm–10pm) Melbourne time.
The 3-Week Course ($350) is the slower version of the same syllabus. It suits first-timers who have never sat PTE and need the format explained before the strategy makes sense.
The 1-Month Guaranteed Course ($650) is for students with a hard deadline and a specific score requirement — usually a visa or PR application. If you do not reach the target you agreed at enrolment within the program, you continue in group classes for up to six months at no extra cost.
10 One-to-One Sessions ($599) suits working professionals who cannot commit to a fixed batch, and retakers whose score report shows one or two isolated weaknesses rather than a general gap.
Know which score you actually need
A great deal of wasted preparation comes from chasing the wrong number. Competent English, proficient English and superior English are three different thresholds with three different study plans, and “79 across the board” is not the answer for everyone.
For maximum English points on a skilled visa, the targets are Speaking 88, Writing 85, Reading 70, Listening 69 — note how uneven those are. Reading and Listening sit far lower than most students assume, which means the effort belongs in Speaking and Writing. We set your plan against the score on your actual visa pathway, not a generic benchmark.
Most students moving from the mid-60s to 79+ land inside a four to eight week window with consistent daily practice. Your diagnostic decides where in that range you start.
How a live class runs
Group classes are capped at four students. That cap exists for one reason: Speaking practice is worthless if you spend the hour listening to other people. With four, everyone gets marked out loud in every session.
Classes are delivered live online across Australia, run by trainers who have personally sat the exam pathway they teach and scored 79 or above. Feedback in a session sounds different when the person giving it has taken the test themselves.
Each session ends with a fix list — specific tasks and specific habits — rather than an instruction to keep practising.
What happens between classes
You get unlimited practice on an AI portal that scores against the same enabling skills the real exam measures: oral fluency, pronunciation, content, form, grammar and vocabulary. Because it scores instantly, you can attempt Read Aloud six times in ten minutes and watch fluency move.
A full mock test runs weekly, with feedback returned inside 24 hours. Enrolled students also receive prediction file updates as they are released.
Between sessions, trainers answer questions over WhatsApp. Most score movement happens in the practice you do alone; the classes exist to make sure that practice is aimed at the right thing.
Retaking after a disappointing score
Retakers are a large share of every intake, and they are usually the fastest to improve. We start from your score report rather than from the beginning of the syllabus.
Three patterns account for most stalled retakes: oral fluency dragged down by hesitation and restarts, Write Essay structure that loses form marks, and Listening multi-skill traps where a single mis-heard detail costs across several items. Identifying which one is yours takes one diagnostic, not another full course.
Before you enrol
The free trial includes a diagnostic test, a personalised score analysis, one live group class, and 48 hours of access to the AI portal. It exists so you can judge the teaching before paying for it.
If you are still deciding between PTE, IELTS and NAATI CCL for your points, book the trial and ask — the honest answer sometimes is that a different test suits your situation better.
