Estimate your PTE, IELTS or NAATI timeline before you enrol

The Score Smart score estimator helps you understand how long it may take to reach your target based on your current level, study hours, and exam type. It is a planning tool — not a guarantee — designed to set realistic expectations before you book coaching.

How to use your estimate

Answer honestly about your current English level and weekly study hours. Students who overestimate available hours often under-prepare. A realistic plan of 10–20 focused hours per week usually outperforms sporadic marathon sessions.

PTE Academic and IELTS timelines differ. Moving from an intermediate level to 79+ or Band 7+ commonly takes 4–8 weeks with guided practice. NAATI CCL candidates who already have strong bilingual skills may be exam-ready sooner with intensive dialogue practice.

After you see your estimate, book a free diagnostic or trial class. Our trainers refine the timeline using a real mock score and build a module-by-module plan for Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening — or for CCL dialogue themes.

What an estimate can and cannot tell you

An estimator gives you a starting bearing, not a prediction. It is useful for answering the question most people actually have — roughly how far am I from the score my visa needs, and is that a two-week problem or a two-month one.

It cannot see the things that decide your real score: pronunciation consistency, how you behave when the timer runs down, whether your Writing holds structure under pressure. Those only show up in a scored mock under exam conditions.

Use the estimate to decide whether to book a diagnostic, not to decide whether to book the exam.

Setting a target that matches your pathway

Work backwards from the visa subclass or the registering body, not from a general idea of a good score. Competent English clears the threshold for many pathways; Proficient and Superior English add points. In PTE terms Superior means 79 or above in each communicative skill, and plenty of applicants prepare for it when their points total does not require it.

Professional registration sets its own thresholds. AHPRA, engineering and accounting bodies do not all match the visa requirement, and they change. Confirm the current number with Home Affairs or your registering body before committing to a target.

If you want that assessed against your actual points breakdown rather than in general, a free consultation is the fastest way to get it.
