Who runs Score Smart, and how we teach

Score Smart is an Australian test preparation academy based in Melbourne, established in 2021 and trading under ABN 54 704 025 041. We coach for PTE Academic, NAATI CCL, IELTS, LanguageCert and CELPIP — the English tests the Department of Home Affairs accepts for visa and permanent residency applications. This page explains who teaches here, how the classes actually run, and what our score commitment does and does not promise.

The people who teach here

Every trainer on our roster has sat the exam they teach. Esha is a Pearson PTE Academic trainer with three years of coaching experience and a personal PTE score of 79+. Lakshay and Bhavneet both coach PTE Academic and NAATI CCL Punjabi, each with four years of experience, a 79+ PTE score, and a NAATI CCL pass. Alisha coaches PTE and NAATI CCL Hindi on the same credentials. Nim covers PTE, IELTS and NAATI CCL Nepali.

That matters more than it sounds. A trainer who has only read about Describe Image gives you a template. A trainer who has sat in the chair and watched the microphone cut off mid-sentence tells you where the template breaks. You can read each trainer's background and the posts they have reviewed on their author page, linked from any article they appear on.

We are a small team by design. Group classes run at a maximum of four students so a trainer can hear every response in a session rather than sampling a few.

How a course actually runs

Classes are live and online, weekday mornings or evenings on Melbourne time, and students join from every state. Between sessions you practise in our scoring portal, which marks Speaking and Writing against the same criteria the real exam uses so you are not guessing at your own fluency. Full mock tests run weekly, with written feedback back to you inside 24 hours.

One-to-one sessions are available for students who need a specific weakness dismantled rather than a general course — a Reading section that will not move, or NAATI dialogue recall that keeps dropping segments. Booking is flexible around shift work.

Most students who start at a competent level reach their target in four to eight weeks. Students starting further back take longer, and we will tell you that at the diagnostic stage rather than after you have paid.

What our score commitment actually is

We do not guarantee an exam result. Nobody honestly can — the exam is marked by Pearson, IDP, Cambridge or NAATI, not by us. What we commit to is this: if you complete the program and have not reached your target, you keep attending group classes at no additional cost for up to six months. The full conditions are set out in our Terms of Service.

We would rather state that plainly than advertise a guaranteed band and bury the qualification. If a coaching provider promises you a specific score outright, ask them what happens contractually when you do not get it.

How to check us before you enrol

Our Results page publishes student scorecards shared with permission, named where the student agreed to be named, with the exam and city attached so you can compare the outcome to your own starting point. Our verified student reviews are public and we link them rather than only quoting a number back at you.

You can reach a person before paying anything. Book a free trial and you get a diagnostic test, a written score analysis, one group class, and 48 hours in the practice portal — enough to judge the teaching before committing. Email hello@scoresmart.au or call 0432 198 990 if you would rather just ask questions first.
