NAATI CCL course formats and what each one includes
NAATI CCL is worth five points on an Australian skilled migration application, and it is the cheapest five points most applicants will ever get — one test, no ongoing obligation, valid for three years. Score Smart runs CCL coaching in Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali and Urdu. This page explains the formats we offer so you can work out which one fits before looking at prices.
Group courses versus one-to-one
Punjabi and Nepali run as month-long group courses, weekday evenings on Melbourne time, capped at four students. Group format suits you if your vocabulary in the language is solid and what you need is structured dialogue practice, timing discipline and examiner-style feedback on transfer accuracy.
Hindi runs as a twelve-session one-to-one course with flexible scheduling. One-to-one suits you if your two languages are uneven — strong Hindi and hesitant English, or the reverse — because the whole session can go to the side that is costing you marks. It also suits shift workers who cannot commit to a fixed weekday slot.
Urdu coaching is available on request. Contact us for current availability rather than assuming from this page.
What is covered in every format
Dialogue practice across the topic areas CCL draws from — health, law, education, immigration, social services, business and finance. Role-play drills focused on transfer accuracy, because CCL marks you on what you omit and distort, not on how fluent you sound. Topic-by-topic vocabulary banks, pronunciation and delivery coaching, and mock test simulation with review.
The scoring criteria matter more than practice volume here. Most candidates who fail CCL do not fail on vocabulary — they fail because they paraphrase where the test requires accurate transfer, or lose a segment because they tried to hold too much before speaking. That is what the feedback focuses on.
You also get trainer support between classes, which for CCL usually means checking a specific term or a segment you could not resolve on your own.
Choosing between CCL and another English test
CCL points stack with your English test points — they do not replace them. You still need PTE, IELTS or an equivalent for the English requirement itself. If you are weighing where to spend preparation time first, the usual answer is the English test, because it gates your eligibility, while CCL adds points on top.
If you speak one of the four languages we teach at a conversational adult level, CCL is normally the better return on study hours than pushing an English score from proficient to superior. Book a free consultation if you want that assessed against your own points breakdown rather than in general.
