Free NAATI CCL study resources for Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali and Urdu

Prepare for NAATI CCL with free Score Smart resources covering dialogue practice ideas, note-taking habits, and language-pair tips. These materials support candidates aiming for 5 Australian PR points.

What NAATI CCL preparation should include

CCL success depends on accurate interpreting between English and your LOTE under time pressure. Practise medical, legal, immigration, and community dialogues weekly, and train a note-taking system you can trust on exam day.

Native-speaker feedback matters. Free resources help you understand the format, but live coaching corrects register, omitted information, and pacing issues that cost marks. Explore our NAATI group and one-to-one courses when you are ready for structured mocks.

What NAATI CCL preparation actually involves

CCL is two recorded dialogues of roughly 300 words each, delivered in segments of around 35 words that you interpret between English and your other language. You cannot request a repeat. Scoring is out of 90 across both dialogues with a pass at 63, and you need at least 29 in each dialogue individually — so a strong first dialogue cannot rescue a weak second one.

Marks come off for omissions, distortions and additions. Fluent output that drops a date, a dosage or a name loses more than hesitant output that carries everything across. This is the single most common misunderstanding about how CCL is marked.

Topics come from everyday Australian public-service contexts: health, law, education, immigration and citizenship, social services, business and finance.

Building vocabulary that survives exam pressure

Learn terms in pairs, not in lists. Knowing a word in isolation is not the same as retrieving it inside a two-second gap while holding the rest of a segment in memory.

Record yourself and listen back against the source. Nearly every candidate failing on omissions believes they are not omitting anything — because the missing segment was never encoded in the first place, and you cannot notice that from memory.

We coach CCL in Hindi, Punjabi, Nepali and Urdu. The five points are identical whichever language you sit, so choose the one you will pass in — usually the one you use for adult, formal conversation rather than the one you grew up hearing at home.
