Free IELTS resources to support your Band 7+ prep
This page collects free IELTS study materials from Score Smart — writing tips, speaking strategies, listening practice ideas, and study-plan videos. Use them to strengthen weak modules while you prepare for Academic or General Training.
How to get the most from these IELTS resources
Start with a timed practice test so you know your current band estimate for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Then use the writing and speaking resources below to target the modules costing you the most marks.
Writing improves fastest with corrections. Practise Task 1 and Task 2 under timed conditions, then compare your structure against Band 7+ models. Speaking improves with daily topic drills and recording yourself against examiner criteria for fluency, lexical resource, and pronunciation.
Free resources help you practise smarter, but they do not replace feedback. When you are ready for trainer reviews, weekly mocks, and a personalised plan, join our IELTS 12-session coaching or book a free trial class.
Academic vs General Training materials
Academic candidates should prioritise graph/process Task 1 and discursive Task 2 essays. General Training candidates need letter formats (formal, semi-formal, informal) plus GT Reading texts drawn from everyday notices and workplace documents.
Listening and Speaking are the same for both versions — so the strategy videos on this page apply to everyone. Build a weekly timetable with at least three writing tasks and two full speaking mocks before your test date.
