Can You Get 20 Points for PR with LanguageCert?

If you're planning for Australia PR, you already know that your English test score can give you up to 20 points in the points test.

Now that LanguageCert Academic is officially accepted for Australian visas, a big question many students have is:

"Can I get 20 PR points with LanguageCert?"

The short answer: ✅ Yes – you can get 20 points for Superior English using LanguageCert Academic (test-centre), just like with IELTS or PTE.

1. How English Points Work for PR (0, 10, 20)

For skilled migration visas (like 189, 190, 491), your English level is usually counted in three bands:

Competent English → ✅ Required, but 0 points
Proficient English → 10 points
Superior English → 20 points

From 7 August 2025, these approved tests include LanguageCert Academic (test-centre version), along with IELTS, PTE, TOEFL iBT, OET, CELPIP and others.

2. Is LanguageCert Actually Accepted for PR?

Yes.

From 7 August 2025, LanguageCert Academic is:

Officially accepted by the Australian Department of Home Affairs
For all visa subclasses that require an English test (including skilled visas)

However: Only test-centre LanguageCert Academic is accepted. Online/at-home versions are not accepted for visas.

3. What Scores Do I Need with LanguageCert to Get 20 Points?

To claim 20 points, you must show Superior English.
